Statement of Faith

  1. We believe in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible as originally written, as the only inspired Word of God and completely trustworthy. The Bible is the final authority on all matters to which it speaks.
  2. We believe in one God, the creator of heaven and earth; who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He is both fully God and fully man, and performed many miracles while on earth. He was crucified, died and buried for the atonement of all of humankind’s sin. His death on the cross and resurrection is the perfect and only means for salvation. He rose from the dead on the third day, and ascended bodily into heaven. He will return bodily to earth and judge the living and the dead.
  4. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the triune Godhead. He is the Comforter who leads and prompts us to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. He helps to give us understanding in God’s Word, and guides and inspires our daily walk to become more like Jesus. He also gives spiritual gifts for the building of God’s kingdom here on earth.
  5. We believe that humankind was created in the image of God, both male and female. Humankind sinned and fell, thereby incurring not only physical death but also a spiritual death, which is separation from God. All humankind is born with a sinful nature.
  6. We believe that salvation is a free gift from God. It cannot be earned or bought. It is given in grace to all who repent of their sins and receive Jesus Christ by faith, as their Savior and Lord and become the children of God; otherwise known as a Christian. All Christians are to participate in the sacraments of baptism and communion as outward signs of their faith; although the sacraments in themselves don’t offer the means of salvation.
  7. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all humankind: the Christian into eternal blessedness, and the non-believer into everlasting conscious punishment.
